Revenge of the ex - the real Bafta story is a positive tale of divorce

Going through a divorce is never going to be a golden era. It's going to be painful and upsetting and unsettling and emotionally distraught.

For many people it is also a financial nightmare. The wronged party will often be intent in taking their ex to the cleaners, and put everyone through an expensive break-up that leaves them both struggling financially.

Even if you 'win' a divorce fight, the fall-out is going to be ugly. Statistically men do worse in the battle, while women struggle to recover for longer. No-one wins.

However, the results from the Baftas last night demonstrate the real way to win in a divorce.

The best and worst celebity neighbours revealed

Who would you like to live next door to? In an ideal world we would all be rattling around in our mansions, with at least couple of rooms between us and our nearest neighbour. In reality we are usually packed into homes far too close to the people next door, where every aspect of their life becomes part of ours, from the early morning music radio to the late night arguments.

But while we all get increasingly irritated by our neighbours, and their ability to produce all sorts of unwanted noise and smells, we can at least dream of the day when the people next door are altogether more attractive sorts.

And now a survey has revealed just who the most attractive celebrity neighbours are... and who the worst celebs would be to have living next door.

So who made the lists?

John Terry's mortgage made public - would your finances stand up to scrutiny?

Filed under: Celebrity Pockets, Budgeting & Planning

John Terry has not had the best 2010 so far. The crisis began when a woman famous for being out and about in her underwear was said to have had an affair with him. Since then, the knives have been out, and every aspect of his life has been fair game.

He has been accused of trying to make a little extra cash from renting out his box, although there's no confirmation he has actually ever done this. He has been accused of having a roving eye, and now the papers are focusing on his mortgage, which grew dramatically last year.

John has paid quite a price for all of this. He has been stripped of his captaincy, and suffered a huge blow to his reputation, and potentially his earning capacity. Who knows what is going on with his personal life, but it doesn't look terribly comfortable.

But the question is whether he is unusual. Are these unfortunate-looking activities the sign of a man who is too flawed to be relied on to kick a ball about the park, or would we all struggle if the heat was turned up on our finances?

'Diamonds the size of chicken nuggets': How Wayne Rooney and Coleen spend their cash

Let's face it, we all like to kick back on our crystal-studded furniture and down an alcopop before settling down to watch something with Noel Edmonds in it. Well, if you happen to be Wayne Rooney or his charming bride Coleen you could live this dream every day of the year.

And thanks to a little legal difficulty Wayne and Coleen are having right now, we can all see it. The Rooneys are embroiled in a set of legal shenanigans regarding Wayne's former management company which claims Wayne is withholding £4.3 million he owes.

We have no idea about the rights and wrongs of the case, and frankly we don't care. What we care about is the fact that Wayne spends £16.50 to get his chest waxed, while Coleen plays about with diamonds "the size of chicken nuggets".

England Captain John Terry's Wembley box illegally touted for £4,000

John Terry, the England football team captain, has a lot on his plate right now, what with his bit of 'how's-your-manager'? with Vanessa Perroncel, ex-girlfriend of his England team-mate Wayne Bridge.

But now an associate of his management company is reportedly offering his Wembley box for £4,000 a pop, which is against the rules.

This could be one more issue for England's manager, Fabio Capello, to bring up.

According to the Daily Mail, as England captain he has a contract to rent a luxury 12-seat box at Wembley subsidised by us poor taxpayers to the tune of £40,000 per year.

The contract stipulates that the box may not be sub-let. But according the Mail, this is precisely what is happening.

The richest and most famous celebrities in Hollywood. Who made the list?

Hollywood A-listers seem to be scraping by, despite the recession. A new list out today reveals in fact that the best paid directors, actors and actresses, are raking in millions of pounds a year - proving that the most valuable thing we can be doing at the moment is prancing around a stage playing 'let's pretend'.

The list contains some real surprises, such as the fact Harry Potter redhead Rupert Grint made more money than George Clooney and the best paid actress is still a teenager.

So which of these overgrown kids made the list, and just how much are they earning?

Could this be the end of 'famous for being famous'? Could kids have proper ambitions soon?

The cult of being 'famous for being famous' has been the curse of the decade. Since Big Brother first hit the screens just over ten years ago, there has been a never-ending stream of 'ordinary people' without any discernible talent hitting the front pages for no good reason.

The formula was simple: get yourself on telly, do something outrageous, and then sign up for a photo-shoot or tell-all story, and suddenly everyone would know your name.

A whole generation of kids has grown up where this is normal, and their ambitions aren't to achieve anything: they don't even want a job that will bring them fame and fortune. They simply want to be famous.

But it looks like this could be drawing to a close.

Katie Price and Alex Reid: the drama continues with a Vegas wedding. But don't be tempted to copy them

If Katie Price's life was a soap opera, she would have people turning off in droves claiming that the whole thing was just too ludicrous to believe. What next, a Las Vegas wedding?

Well, actually, yes...

Yesterday Katie provided a new twist to the story when she married Alex Reid in Las Vegas. The couple pitched up in Vegas, bought some rings and then went to a hotel chapel for a quickie ceremony.

Sounds like they really thought that one through.

Here's hoping they plan a nice quiet few months out of the spotlight, so that we can properly enjoy their honeymoon period.

But while we wait for the next development - alien abduction? Long-lost brothers and sisters? Peter Andre wandering out of the shower and realising the whole thing has been a dream? It's worth sparing a thought for their choice of wedding.

Any couple with marriage on their minds has a brief 'Vegas Conversation'. Should you chuck in all the pointless planning and organisations and make a dash for Sin City to tie the knot?

But while it may seem like the easy answer, it may be more expensive than you think.

Unmarried Brangelina are rumoured to have split - so what are your rights when you aren't married?

It's the split that has been rumoured forever. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are said to have finally called it a day.

There remains a great deal of discussion about whether this is true, and friends are saying they are working their problems out. There is a chance, therefore, that one of the most high profile relationships in Hollywood will be secure.

However, it begs the question of what would happen to them - and any unmarried couple - in the event of a split.

At £250 million 50 Cent claims he doesn't have enough money. How to beat the greed disease

Filed under: Celebrity Pockets, Budgeting & Planning

It's hard to believe money doesn't buy happiness. The old quote about it buying a better class of misery shows that we're not completely convinced that given a few million we couldn't find a way to be happy.

But multi-millionnaire 50 Cent, worth a staggering £250 million has admitted 'I don't think it will ever be enough."

He claims his tough upbringing has given him this attitude. But the feeling of never quite being rich enough isn't restricted to people who have had it tough. Everyone is cursed with the feeling that everything would be OK if they just had a little more cash.

So how do you beat the feeling?
